My love of golf began when I was only 2 years old. I started to take lessons and continued to play. At only 9 years old I joined Goal Farm Golf Club, a beautiful, testing par 3 course, ideal for learning the game. My first handicap was 32.

At 12 years old I joined Puttenham Golf Club playing off a 17 handicap. I played at both courses through my teens. At 16 I left school with 10 GCSE's. I went to work at Roker Park Golf Club just outside Guildford. A great environment in which to both learn the role of a Golf Professional and work on getting my own handicap down. By 18 years old I was playing off a handicap of 3 and passed my playing test so I could begin my PGA Diploma and turn professional.

I soon left Roker Park to work at a bigger shop. I moved to Surrey Golf & Fitness in Addlestone. I started by working full time in the shop. After 18 months the Head Professional asked me to join the Teaching Academy team teaching full time. I was thrilled as my main passion is teaching. As I was still training at the time, I was given the focus of teaching the juniors. Definitely a full time job with over 100 juniors a week attending lessons. I passed my Diploma in December 2003 with a merit at the age of 21 this made me one of the youngest qualified professionals in the world. When the Head Professional left as I was promoted to Assistant Head Professional and then Head Teaching Professional. Teaching and supervising the whole Academy, which included the Junior programme, Seniors, Ladies, adult education, birthday parties, schools and individual lessons for all ages and abilities. In addition I arranged Golf Society Days for the members and a very successful golfing holiday to Turkey attended and enjoyed by 25 members.

In April 2005 Surrey Golf & Fitness was taken over by another company. During the transitional period Silvermere Golf Club approached me asking me to join their teaching team. It was not a hard decision to make as Silvermere Golf Club has great facilities for teaching and helping people improve their game. I was one of only three full time teachers there, heading their strong junior programme as well as teaching people of all ages and abilities.

Having qualified as a PGA Professional my own development does not stop there. It is important that I strive to develop as a teaching professional. The Continued Professional Development Programme recognises 6 levels of professionals. By attending a variety of seminars and continuing my learning I have recently attained the class AA level. My ultimate goal? Master Professional.
